Art Therapy

Art therapy in my work is an integrative approach.
 

It blends conversation, attention, and the creative process, not as something to “do,” but as another way of listening.

 

Much of the work is conversational. We talk, and we follow your story.
 

Over time, that story deepens.

I’m interested not only in what’s being said, but in how it’s being told-  where things repeat, pause, or where something feels charged or unfinished.

How the work unfolds:

 

I see therapy as story-based and relational. People don’t arrive with a single, clean narrative.

 

They arrive with fragments- scenes, emotions, patterns, questions. Often, there are hidden messages inside those fragments.

 

Part of my role is to notice those moments and gently stay with them long enough for meaning to emerge.

 

This often involves slowing down and paying attention to what’s happening internally: emotions, body sensations, impulses, images without rushing to explain or fix anything.

This work isn’t about being “an artist.”It’s about being human. It’s for anyone ready to listen to themselves in new ways- through art, image, story, and the quiet spaces in between.

Where art comes in for ADHDers

Art therapy can be especially helpful when emotions are hard to identify or articulate.

​

For many adults with ADHD, imagery and materials can bypass the pressure to explain things “correctly” and allow something more honest to emerge.

​

The choice of material, the urge to switch mediums, or the way someone engages with the process can offer information- not to analyze or judge, but to help us understand pacing, readiness, and where the work wants to go next.

​

This kind of communication is often non-verbal, and that’s part of its value.

What this work is (and isn’t)

This isn’t about what the art looks like.
You don’t need to be artistic.
There’s no right way to do it.

What matters is the connection being built- to yourself, to the process, and to the work unfolding in therapy.

 

That might look like:

  • doodling while talking

  • switching materials mid-session

  • responding to a gentle directive

  • or choosing not to use materials at all

 

There are many sessions where the work happens entirely through conversation and metaphor, without any art-making.

RATE:​

60-Minute Consultation: $175

45 - 60 minute Sessions: $150 per session​

​​

 

Sessions flow between 45 and 60 minutes.

Some days, you might find what you need in 45 minutes; other days, the work needs more space.
 

I don’t charge differently for that. What matters is the honesty of the process, not the clock.​​

​

Side Note: I am an out-of-network provider. I always encourage clients to contact their insurance company to explore reimbursement options.

Our first session (at least an hour) is where we slow down and take a holistic look — who you are, what’s unfolding, and what kind of support will feel right.

 

From there, we draw from a mix of approaches, like:

  • Mindfulness: to ground and open awareness

  • Voice Dialogue / Parts Work: to explore the voices and stories within you

  • Creative Process: to move beyond language and into something intuitive, felt, and real
